Research University Network (RUN): Roles of Research towards NET ZERO Ambitions Presents Research Projects in the Thailand Research Expo 2023

On August 7, 2023, the Research University Network (RUN) opened Thailand Research Expo 2023, an exhibition showcasing outstanding research projects from 8 universities in this network, at Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld, with a report from Asst. Prof. Dr. Sutkhet Nakasathien, President of Research University Network (RUN). Dr. Wiparat De-ong, Executive Director of National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) delivered an opening speech on the theme of “Roles of Research towards NET ZERO Ambitions” and gave crossbody bags made from used dialysis bags, developed by Kasetsart University’s Faculty of Architecture, as tokens of appreciation to the executives and representatives of all 7 universities. Prof. Dr. Joongjai Panpranot received the souvenirs on behalf of Chulalongkorn University.
The concept of “Roles of Research towards NET ZERO Ambitions” stems from the goal of zero greenhouse gas emissions, which is one of the main goals for the global community. RUN has therefore compiled research related to Net Zero Emissions in a research exhibition. Chulalongkorn University presented 2 research projects at the exhibition, namely “Carbon Dioxide Conversion Process into 1D, 2D, and 3D Carbon Nanocrystals” by Prof. Dr. Joongjai Panpranot and “Tri-Electrode Rechargeable Zinc-Air Flow Battery” by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Soorathep Kheawhom, both from the Faculty of Engineering.
The Research University Network (RUN) consists of Chulalongkorn University, Kasetsart University, Khon Kaen University, Chiang Mai University, Thammasat University, Mahidol University, Prince of Songkla University, and Naresuan University. The Network bases its operations on the concept of sincerity, equality, and excellence, in research and development towards a common goal of developing the country’s research.

The sense of kinship and warmth found in the Chula community is priceless and a treasure worth keeping.
