Chulalongkorn University received 88.99 points on the Integrity and Transparency Assessment (ITA) an increase of 2.86 from the previous year and earned full marks in information disclosure and corruption prevention, and is ready to move forward with the 2025 goal to increase participation in the Chula community, as well as develop transparency in terms of budget, procurement, and whistleblowing to keep up with new risks and join in building Chula into a university of transparency and good governance.
On July 30, 2024, the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) announced the results of the evaluation of ethics and transparency in government agencies for the 2024 fiscal year in a live telecast from Nonthaburi 1 room, Building 4 of the NACC in Nonthaburi Province. Of the 8,325 agencies throughout the country, the average score was 93.05 points (an increase of 2.86 points) the highest since the national overall assessment was conducted according to the target indicators of the master plan under the national strategy for combating corruption and misconduct. This year, 7,696 agencies have met the target and scored over 85 points, or the equivalent of 92.44% though the NACC has yet to achieve its target that all agencies can score over 85.
At this year’s ITA DAY 2024 with the “Transparency with Quality” ITA AWARDS 2024 Chulalongkorn University was given a “pass” in the evaluation of ethics and transparency for government agencies (ITA) for the 2024 fiscal year in the university category for the fifth consecutive year and had a full 100 score for the fifth year. In the OIT tool, it passed indicator 9 on information disclosure and indicator 10 on corruption prevention, with an average score of 88.99 points (an increase of 2.86 points).
From the scoring of the Internal Stakeholder Perception Survey (IIT) and External Stakeholder Perception Survey (EIT) Part 1 and 2 for the 2024 fiscal year held between January – July 2024, a total of 917 Chulalongkorn community members participated in the assessment, divided into 515 internal personnel from a total of 7,307 eligible persons, accounting for 7.05%, along with 448 students and service recipients or visitors to the agency.
Chulalongkorn University hopes to expand the participation of members of the Transparency and Integrity Representative Network (CU-ITA Agent), who are representatives from faculties/work units, to create awareness among 700 people in the following year to further develop the network to monitor, prevent and reduce the risk of corruption that may occur.
Examples of innovative suggestions that can be developed to make the university more inclusive and have better governance are as follows:
In the 2025 fiscal year, Chulalongkorn University will continue to open communication spaces for its staff to have a part in being informed of the status and problems of the organization’s ethics and transparency operations in order to motivate faculties/work units to be able to jointly improve and develop operations and services, to facilitate and respond to the needs of students and service users according to the PDCA process each year.
