The Faculty of Education, Chulalongkorn University, in collaboration with the World Organization for Early Childhood Education (OMEP) Thailand, Ministry of Education, the UNESCO Office for Education in Asia-Pacific Region, and the Equitable Education Fund (EEF), organized the 76th OMEP World Assembly and Conference “Right from the Start for ECCE: Step Beyond All Together.” The assembly and conference took place on July 15-17, 2024, at the Faculty of Education, Chulalongkorn University, and on July 18-19, 2024, at Centara Grand at Central World Hotel. Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat, Acting President of Chulalongkorn University, was the chair of the assembly, with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siridej Sujiva, Acting Vice President, giving the welcome remarks on July 17, 2024, at Poonsapaya Navawongs na Ayudhya Meeting Room, 3rd floor, Phra Mingkwan Karnsuksa Building, Faculty of Education, Chulalongkorn University.
The 76th OMEP World Assembly and Conference “Right from the Start for ECCE: Step Beyond All Together” at the Faculty of Education, Chulalongkorn University, marked the first time Thailand has been selected to host the event, with 580 participants from 52 countries in attendance. The aim is to create opportunities to track the progress of current situations in early childhood education and development across various regions of the world. It also includes exchanging knowledge and understanding about key factors in success, emerging research, innovations, and best practices. These elements influence the determination and adjustment of attitudes and policies to enhance the quality of early childhood education. The event serves to jointly affirm that quality and standards of early childhood education is a right for all children, promoting age-appropriate, comprehensive, and equitable development, which is considered a crucial foundation for lifelong learning.
