The Chulalongkorn University Alumni Association under the Royal Patronage (CUAA) invites you to join the “King Chulalongkorn Memorial Day 2024” under the theme “CU Power of One: Uniting Chula’s Strengths for Society.” This event commemorates King Chulalongkorn, the founder of Chulalongkorn University, and honors his contributions to the nation. The press conference was led by Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, Mr. Auttapol Rerkpiboon, President of the Chulalongkorn University Alumni Association under the Royal Patronage, and Mr. Lavaron Sangsnit, Chairman of the Piyamaharaj Commemoration 2024 Organizing Committee, at the CU Alumni Association, Phayathai Road, Pathumwan, Bangkok.
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat emphasized that the Piyamaharaj Day Commemoration is held annually to show our respect and gratitude to His Majesty King Chulalongkorn, who established the university in order to develop quality personnel for the nation. This event aligns with Chulalongkorn’s vision of becoming a world-class university through its “Chula Power of Togetherness” strategy, emphasizing collaboration among students, faculty, alumni, international organizations, and communities. The event fosters a connection between alumni and current students, while contributing in positive ways to society.
Mr. Auttapol Rerkpiboon highlighted the significance of October 23 each year, where Chulalongkorn University members gather to honor King Chulalongkorn’s legacy, particularly in sustainable development and education. This year, the theme “Uniting Chula as One” aims to continue his vision, with CUAA playing a key role in uniting alumni and current students from all fields to contribute to the university’s growth and the development of Thai society. The event also calls for donations to the Chula Scholarship Fund and the Lunch Fund, supporting academically talented but financially disadvantaged students.
Mr. Lavaron Sangsnit discussed how this year’s event reflects the university community’s unity under the theme “CU Power of One.” The morning event will feature tribute ceremonies at the King Chulalongkorn and King in front of the Chulalongkorn University Auditorium, as well as the King Chulalongkorn Equestrian Statue at the Royal Plaza. In the afternoon, there will be activities, including the “CU Alumni Talk: CU Power of One,” CU Cheerleader performances, music by the CU Band, and alumni artists. Donations will be raised for the Chula Scholarship Fund and the Lunch Fund to further education and improve lives.
“Donations are welcome via Kasikorn Bank account number 073-3-51890-1, under the name of the Chulalongkorn University Alumni Association Foundation under the Royal Patronage of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. The event will also be broadcast live on Channel 9 MCOT HD and via Facebook Live on Backbone MCOT, Chulalongkorn University, and Chula Alumni pages.”
