CU Faculty Members and Researchers Win National Awards

Chulalongkorn University faculty members and researchers received recognition from the National Research Council of Thailand for outstanding innovative inventions and quality academic research.  The members have been honored in various categories, including the National Outstanding Researcher Award 2020, Research Work Award 2020, Dissertation Award 2020, and the Inventor’s Award 2020.

National Outstanding Researcher Award 2020

Out of nine candidates, three CU faculty members have been awarded with the National Outstanding Researcher Award.

  • Professor Dr. Somboon Tanasupawat, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences (Agriculture and Biology)
  • Professor Dr. Sunait Chutinataranon, Institute of Asian Studies (Philosophy)
  • Associate Professor Dr. Tisana Kaemmanee, Faculty of Education (Education)

Research Work Award 2020

CU faculty members won 7 awards, out of 41 submissions, in 12 departments:

Outstanding Research Award

  • Associate Professor Dr. Dachrit Nilubol and Team, for the research project titled, “Uncovering the route to Porcine Delta Coronavirus and Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus infections for disease control, to reduce severe enteritis caused by delta coronavirus in pigs, and the development of vaccines and ELISA test kits for the prevention of the disease.” (Agriculture and Biology)
  • Professor Dr. Pasuk Phongpaichit and Team, for the research project titled, “Guidelines for Personal Income Tax Reform and the Anaysis of Income Distribution of Assessable Taxpayers.” (Economics)
  • Associate Professor Dr. Chulanee Thianthai, for the research project titled, “The Impact of Social Media on Thai Social and Cultural Change in Anthropological Perspectives.” (Sociology)

Good Research Award

  • Associate Professor Dr. Waranyoo Phoolcharoen and Team, for the research project titled, “The Pros of Plant-based Protein Osteoporosis Used as Bone Tissue in Engineering.” (Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences)
  • Associate Professor Dr. Vuthichai Ervithayasuporn and Team, for the research project titled, “Silsesquioxane Hybrid Materials: Fluorescent Molecules for Receptors.” (Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences)
  • Dr. Vorrapon Chaikeeratisak and Team, for the research project titled, “Assembly of a Nucleus-like Structure During Viral Replication in Bacteria.” (Agriculture and Biology)
  • Associate Professor Dr. Weerasak Krueathep and Team, for the research project titled, “Establishing the Criteria and Minimum Target Values for Administering Local Public Sectors.” (Political Science and Public Administration)

CU faculty members won 6 awards out of 47 submissions, in 12 departments:

Outstanding Dissertation Award

  • Dr. Siraseth Pantura-umporn, for the dissertation titled, “Music Composition Thesis: The Synthesis of Symphonies.” (Philosophy)

  • Assistant Professor Dr. Peeraya Boonprasong, for the dissertation titled, “The Process of Utilizing Land in Commercial Building Alleys: A Case Study of Commercial Building in Tha Thien, Bangkok.” (Philosophy)
