Chula Alumni Association and Kbank Partner to Develop CHAM Mobile Application to Connect Alumni Worldwide

Chula Alumni and KBank develop a CHAM Mobile Application to link more than 500,000 Chula alumni worldwide.

The Chulalongkorn University Alumni Association under the Royal Patronage of His Majesty the King (CUAA) and Kasikornbank (KBank) have signed a memorandum of partnership for the development of the CHAM Mobile Application to link more than 500,000 Chula alumni worldwide.  CHAM, running on both iOS and Android operating systems with a wide range of features to support 5G lifestyles, is expected to be available for download in the first quarter of 2021.

Ms. Pimolpa Suntichok, CUAA’s Chief Information Technology Officer said that one of the key objectives of CUAA is to strengthen ties and promote unity between Chula alumni and to jointly contribute to our alma mater and act as a driving force for society. The role of 5G technology is becoming increasingly crucial in the modern world and we consider that factor in the development and management of the alumni membership network to meet users’ needs.  We want over 500,000 Chula alumni around the world to keep pace with this technology while staying in touch, and receiving special privileges, e.g. exclusive access to news and information, making e-donation, and enjoying exclusive promotions and privileges from hundreds of participating brands.

Dr. Pipatpong Poshyanonda, Managing Director of KBank cosigning said that KBank has been supporting CUAA in the Development of CHAM to be used as a communication platform and source of news and information for the alumni to stay in touch with the Chula community.

Moreover, in future, alumni can conveniently use the application to pay for membership fees, make donations, and raise funds for the association’s various projects. Payments can be made via bank transfer, credit or debit card, QR code, or direct debit via the KPlus mobile application.  To provide the best financial benefits for all, CHAM app members will also be able to gain access to a knowledge base on financial matters, such as financial management, investment and funding sources, etc.  CHAM is expected to be fully launched in the first quarter of 2021.

“Kasikornbank cooperates with Chula at various levels.  It has played a part in driving social innovations for the society in line with Chulalongkorn’s Vision of the Second Century. Members of the Chula community, including faculty, staff, and students, get to enjoy new lifestyles through the use of the mobile platform that we jointly developed under the CU NEX project.  Currently, the CU NEX mobile application has more than 40,000 registered students, while CU NEX STAFF for faculty and staff members has more than 8,000 registered users.  Soon, hundreds of thousands of Chula alumni will enter into the new, rapidly growing online network that promotes interaction with CUAA that is more accessible than ever”, Dr. Pipatphong added.

Chula’s encouragement and support for research is excellent for teachers, students, and the public.
