Chulalongkorn University Announcement, Featured News
Following the discovery on February 5, 2021, that residents of the Chula Niwas building were infected with COVID-19, the University has already taken actions to prevent the outbreak, as well as reduce the spread among residents of the Chula Niwas building and other university personnel by providing patients with medical treatment and screening proactively for those at risk. However, for the safety and wellbeing of students and personnel, and to ensure uninterrupted and efficient operation of the University, by virtue of Sections 27 and 32 of the Chulalongkorn University Act, B.E. 2551, it is necessary to issue the followings:
1. The University shall temporarily close its offices in Bangkok during February 12- 28, 2021.2. All students and personnel shall avoid leaving their residence, traveling to crowded places, or mingling with other people unnecessarily.They shall be responsible for closely monitoring the University’s messages and information.3. All classes shall be conducted online during the time set forth in this announcement.Any evaluations or examinations scheduled during said duration are at the discretion of instructors to use formats of evaluation other than taking exams on campus and/or meetings of students in groups. These formats may include online examinations, assignments, reports, take-home examinations, or periodic measurements and evaluations during classes.4. All personnel shall work from their residence and are ready to be contacted or instructed by supervisors or persons involved, as well as maintain strict work discipline.The section heads and supervising Vice Presidents may assign work to personnel as they see fit.5. Personnel working in security, COVID-19 screening, supervision of students staying in university dormitories, or other jobs as required by the University or work sections, shall come to campus to perform the tasks as necessary. The section heads and supervising Vice Presidents shall adjust the work schedules as appropriate and in line with the situation.In the absence of the need for personnel under Paragraph One to perform the tasks on campus, the section heads or supervising Vice Presidents may instruct said personnel to work from their residence.6. To maintain uninterrupted operation of the University, section heads or supervising Vice Presidents may arrange meetings or consultations with personnel through electronic media, give orders for personnel to work on campus, or conduct other actions as necessary.7. Sections or supervising Vice Presidents may set additional details or guidelines that are not in conflict with this announcement.8. In case of problems or inability to comply with this announcement, section heads or supervising Vice Presidents, have final authority in making decisions.
This announcement shall take effect from February 12, 2021 to February 28, 2021, or until otherwise announced.
