On February 17, 2018, Mongkol Associates, the representative team from BBA Chulalongkorn University, won first place in the Heavener International Case Competition (HICC 2018) held at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida.
The HICC is one of the case competitions linked to the coveted Champions Trophy and features the best students from 20 leading universities around the world. The case competition consisted of two rounds, a 5-hour short case and a 30-hour long case. The short case challenge was to devise a national expansion strategy for Study Edge, a local online tutoring service popular among UF students. For the long case, the teams were asked to ‘reimagine’ the onboarding process for new hires at Booz Allen Hamilton, a leading firm in the U.S. government consulting industry.
Mongkol Associates received third and first place in the short and long cases and were crowned division winners. They then advanced to the final round, faced three other teams, and finally triumphed.
The Mongkol Associates team members included Mr. Chakrapoj Chitwannapa (BBA-Finance, 4th Year), Ms. Wanwares Boonkong (BBA-Finance, 4th Year), Mr. Bunchana Sawattananond (BBA-Finance, 4th Year), and Ms. Parima Chaiwarut (BBA-International Business, 3rd Year).
The team expressed their thanks and appreciation to the CU BBA International Program, Dr. Nat Kulvanich (the team’s advisor), and the BBA Case Club for all the training. Another proud achievement was the Best Speaker Award, which was given to Ms. Parima Chaiwarut, in recognition of her outstanding presentation skills during the case competition.
