Overview

Would you like to work on real-life projects and solve real-life issues?

Would you like to be in charge of your own curriculum and choose what to learn?

Would you like to be a part of the international community and access global opportunities and networks?

Then join BAScii as we challenge the means of traditional higher education!

Launched in 2019, the Bachelor of Arts and Science in Integrated Innovation (BAScii International Program) is one of the newest international programs in Chulalongkorn University under the faculty-level Chulalongkorn School of Integrated Innovation (CSII).

As a response to the changes in the industry and social needs triggered by the 4th industrial revolution, BAScii offers its students a transdisciplinary curriculum that dissolves the traditional boundaries of conventional disciplines and synthesizes diverse subjects while providing experiences from academia as well as the corporate sector.

Throughout the program, students gain soft skills required in the 21st century and obtain knowledge in both business and technology cores, while continuously working on their own start-up projects across all four years of the degree. These projects address key challenges within the areas of three specializations offered in the program – Health and Wellbeing, Smart City and Sustainable Development, and Applied Digital Intelligence.

BAScii is not just a degree, but a multifaceted platform and ecosystem in the context of future-oriented education. It leads towards global sustainability for international talents aiming to foster entrepreneurial capacities of each student and equip them with 21st century skills for lifelong learning. As they become a part of this ecosystem, students gain access to the best scholars, startup founders, industry internships and global partnerships with top-ranked universities or corporations to support their learning outside of the classroom. All BAScii experiences are tailored towards developing business and industries of the future with promising international career prospects.

Here in BAScii students become ‘Global Citizens’ and leaders in the world of technology and innovation. They develop the inherent capacity to adapt to the ever-changing world and become competitive entrepreneurs, life-long learners, potentially with their businesses or startups already up and running as they graduate their undergraduate degrees.

WHY this program
at Chula

1

1. ‘The Future is Integrated!’ – Merging Disciplines

BAScii is a first-of-a-kind in Asia, unique international program that offers a transdisciplinary curriculum integrating the best of academics in both art and science from Chulalongkorn University and beyond. It dissolves the traditional boundaries of conventional disciplines and synthesizes diverse subjects while providing experiences from academia as well as the corporate sector. BAScII’s curriculum, organizational culture, program structure, and student experiences are hinged on teaching and learning in the context of real-life scenarios, therefore reflecting on the complexity and integration of fields prominent in today’s world.

2. Facilitating Entrepreneurial and StartUp Ecosystems

Our world is changing and accelerating under the impetus of new and digital technologies. Many stakeholders are involved in this innovation, but start-ups — with their disruptive mentality and quick-thinking in visualizing new digital solutions – really stand out from the crowd.  At BAScii students can customize their own program, develop their own learning methodology with the guidance of faculties and choose specializations based on their interest. They will have access to courses, research labs, projects, workshops, internships and overseas exchange. The new generation needs a new set of relevant skills including technology literacy, multi-tasking, entrepreneurship, networking, and collaboration, to succeed in this rapidly-changing global landscape and have an opportunity to realize their visions and ambitions through their own start-ups.

3. Nurturing Global Citizens

Apart from necessary skills for global citizenship of the 21st Century, students need a program which is relevant to the issues that are important to them; and that will help them make a significant impact on local, national, and global scales as they confront challenges to create better societies and a better world. Through collaboration, startups and large businesses are now working hand in hand to create tools and services which make the world safer, more innovative, and more sustainable.  With access to these global networks and ecosystems, students get to be a part of various social innovation projects and realize their potential as future social innovators.

4

4. Providing International Environment and Global Experiences

Being an “International Academy for the Future” BAScii program grants its students access to a global network of top-level academics, startup founders, prestigious universities and industry partners from across the globe. While in BAScii students can take advantage of the program’s resources by participating in an Exchange Program, attending international workshops and study tours, contributing to research projects, and joining internships to gain real-world experience and ‘networlding’. With international faculty, staff, and students, the program provides a diversity of experiences to ensure all students gain a global outlook on the world.
