Overview
Computer science and information technology have been the most essential academic fields behind the success of world industries such as aerospace, automobile, communication, multi-media, medicine, business, agriculture, and military, to name a few. Presently, a great number of equipment and tools are embedded with advanced and complex algorithms.
The Ph.D. program in Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT) at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, Chulalongkorn University is a world-class advanced research program. We aim to produce high-quality research and graduate students who can be the research leaders in the fields. Through fusing of firm mathematical knowledge with computer science and information technology, students will enhance their skills in conducting world-class researches and serve the industrial and non-industrial sectors after graduation.

Be a Part of Cutting-Edge Researches in CSIT
Our Ph.D. students will get to be a part of state-of-the-art researches under the supervision of internationally recognized faculty members in various advanced and emerging areas in CSIT, such as Neural Computing, Artificial Intelligence, Bioinformatics, Internet-of-Things, etc. All research activities are conducted at different research laboratories of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. Students joining each laboratory may be awarded research scholarships from the available research grant of the laboratory.

Focus More on Research and Less on Coursework
Students with M.Sc. degrees can immediately conduct their researches after being admitted to the program. No coursework is required. Those with B.S. degrees can also start conducting the researches while completing 24 credits of coursework alongside. Two international publications in the journals indexed by ISI and SCOPUS databases must be achieved before graduation. Students are advised to join their potential advisors’ research groups within the first year of study. Furthermore, students will have an opportunity to join other domestic leading research groups in the cooperative research networks of 21 universities and also other foreign universities. Financial aids are available in forms of teaching assistantships and research assistantships.

International Teaching-Learning Atmosphere in Fully Equipped Facilities
Besides having the opportunity to learn how the advanced research is done with internationally recognized faculty members in the program, students can access most international journals, proceedings, manuscripts indexed by various databases such as ISI and SCOPUS. Each student is provided with a desk and a new personal computer during the study period. Wi-Fi connectivity and co-working spaces are also available throughout the campus which is conveniently located in the heart of Bangkok and surrounded by modern commercial facilities and accommodations accessible via public transportation.
