Overview
The Master of Science in Urban Strategies or MUS is a one-year, interdisciplinary master’s degree program offered by the Department of Urban and Regional Planning (CUURP) Chulalongkorn University. We welcome students from around the world with any academic and professional background who are interested in urban issues and are searching for potential solutions. Our program combines interactive lectures and studio-based classrooms where students are encouraged to share, demonstrate, and compare concepts and ideas using real cases in Thailand and beyond. Students will have opportunities to work with our faculty and local professionals in research, consultancy, and advocacy projects.
MUS focuses on cultivating fundamental knowledge about contemporary urban transformation and building necessary skills for the development and implementation of urban projects.

Arch CU is One of Southeast Asia’s Leading Architectural Schools
Widely regarded as one of the best architectural schools in Southeast Asia, Chulalongkorn’s Faculty of Architecture (Arch CU) produces graduates with architectural knowledge that meets universal standards, have a cultural identity, social responsibility, and professional ethics. Student-Centric and Interactive Education
We thrive to provide a student-centric and interactive education, where lectures go hand in hand with studio-based classrooms and real-life implications. The learning processes are facilitated by our faculty members who have extensive experience in teaching, research, consultancy, and advocacy in Thailand and abroad. The studios are based on real cases in Bangkok and other cities in Thailand to provide opportunities for further in-depth investigation.

Bangkok – A Unique Perspective
Studying urban issues and strategies in Bangkok offers a unique learning experience with the city as a living laboratory for contemporary urban issues and solutions. From transit-oriented development projects and flood management efforts to community-based housing development and formalization of informal activities, students will gain insights into how social, economic, and political institutions that contribute to everyday urban transformations. Bangkok is also a regional hub for many international development agencies which are key connectors of students’ local experiences to the larger global applications.
Career Opportunities
Our master’s degree graduates in urban strategies can work in the public, education, private sectors, and NGOs in positions like urban strategies specialists, architects, urban planners, professors, researchers, entrepreneurs, etc.
Admission
The program welcomes up to 30 students from around the world with any academic discipline and professional background who are interested in urban issues and potential solutions. If you can communicate in English and hold a bachelor’s degree or is about to graduate from your bachelor program within 3 months, you are eligible to apply.
Application Rounds
We recommend you to apply within R1 or early R2 so that you can be eligible to apply for the Scholarship for International Graduate Students.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
1. Applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree or is a bachelor’s student about to graduate within 3 months.
2. Applicant has received a minimum score of CU-TEP 75, TOEFL iBT 80 (equivalent to TOEFL CBT 213 or TOEFL PBT 550), or IELTS minimum overall score of 6.0.
